London Spirit secured their first win of The Hundred men's competition at Lord's by winning a low-scoring contest against Welsh Fire by three wickets. Liam Dawson and Nathan Ellis claimed three wickets each, while Matt Henry claimed three quick wickets to give Fire hope. Dan Lawrence kept a cool head in a nervy chase with an unbeaten 29, enabling Shimron Hetmyer to freedom muscle an unbeaten 30 and steer the hosts home with 13 balls remaining.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore failed to score off Worrall's opening 10 balls and was replaced by Andre Russell who made a good catch off Olly Stone. Worrall dismissed Luke Wells, who hit two sixes, and Dawson bowled Joe Clarke, while Jonny Bairstow watched on as he faced only two of the first 35 balls.
Ellis and Dawson struggled to score, allowing only 26 runs from 40 balls combined. Dawson, a World Cup winner, returned three for 10 as Fire struggled to score. Ravi Bopara was caught behind, but Lawrence and Hetmyer settled nerves in a 46-run stand. Lawrence skied a catch off Rauf, Hetmyer rode his luck after being dropped, and Bairstow missed a stumping. The West Indian remained and scored a six to finish the game and start the Spirit's campaign.
